Whole Foods Market- Dayton Meet Up

Last week I had the pleasure of hosting my FIRST EVER Dining With C.Rich Meet-Up at Whole Foods Market– Dayton. Every Friday Whole Foods Market holds a “5 After 5 Wine Tasting” from 5p.m.-7p.m. You pay $5.00 for a super cute wine glass, and then you get to try out 5 different wine and food samples around the market. This is not a bad deal to start your weekend off with.

I had about 11 fellow food friends show up and conquer the wine tasting with me. We laughed, attempted to be wine “connoisseurs”, enjoyed tasty food samples, and overall enjoyed the company of one another. I am very pleased with how my first Meet Up turned out, and thankful to those who were able to join me.

Stay tuned, there will be plenty more Meet Ups and other #DWCR events to come. My overall goal is to get people out to meet and network with others while doing something we love… trying out new foods. Whether we keep it local or do some traveling outside our comfort zone, my goal is to see that everyone has a good time. Throwback Thursday- The Ohio Spirit Tasting

Last Tuesday I had the pleasure of attending “The Ohio Spirit Tasting” at Lily’s Bistro. This event allowed patrons to sample some amazing Ohio made Spirits alongside tasty small plates. The Ohio Spirits in the building included OYO (Columbus), Watershed Distillery (Columbus), and Belle of Dayton (Dayton Duh!). With each “taster” received, a mini cocktail was concocted by the Bar Manager, Amber, with a brief discussion as we sipped. Between Amber’s cocktails and the Chef’s small plates, I was on cloud 9 throughout the entire event. I know Lily’s Bistro will have more events on the horizon, so be sure to catch the next one… you won’t regret it.

Sunday Funday 1.15.17

“Sunday Funday, better than a Monday, can only do it one way, and that is the drunk way”

             -You’re The Worst (TV Show)

With the winter blues kicking in hard, I decided to get out and enjoy some of what Dayton has to offer with a few of my faves. Braving the cold for great food and cocktails Downtown proved to be a fun adventure. Enjoy the next few pics!

The Oregon District, Downtown Dayton

We started the afternoon out  “brunching” at Lily’s Bistro, located in the Oregon District. As always, brunch was an awesome mix of great food and drinks… #brunchsohard.

Next we made our way over to Barrel House, where we sipped a bottle of wine and indulged in some good conversation. Inkberry has a Shiraz-Cabernet blend that is simply amazing. Barrel House offers wine/bubbly to purchase by the bottle with a $2 corkage fee, or you can check out their rotating list of craft beers on tap.

The beau was ready to call it and evening, but I was wanting to try out the “Ohio Tea” that Old Scratch Pizza was offering. This tea is basically a Long Island with the good top shelf stuff… I personally wouldn’t pay another $12 for one, but I’m glad to say “I tried it”. Old Scratch Pizza is new to the Dayton area, and offers up great options for pizza, appetizers, sandwiches, and salads. With our “build your own” pizza topped with mushrooms, pepperoni, and sausage, my belly was fairly pleased.

Our final stop of the afternoon was at an old Downtown favorite, The Century Bar.

The Century Bar has an old-time “speakeasy” vibe to it. Most of the bartenders have beards and are very knowledgeable on the spirits within their drink menu. I love the bar because it’s pretty laid back and the cocktails are truly hand-crafted. I’d suggest coming to The Century Bar for a drink with friends, a date night, or maybe you want to sip on some bourbon alone… either way, you are guaranteed to have a great time.

Sunday Funday is one of those days you just let the wind take you wherever you go. Do you have any Sunday Funday favorites?

Until next time, Cheers! -C.Rich

Early Week Cure

I don’t know about you, but sometimes I look to plan an early week after-work drink (or two) at a local restaurant. One of Dayton’s latest eateries, Crafted&Cured: Purveyors of Premium Craft Beer and Artisanal Cheeses, located Downtown, is making their mark on the city.

Crafted&Cured is home of a 60 tap growler filled with craft beers and ciders. You can also find a selection of rare wines and champagnes to fit various wine connoisseurs (even the wannabes like myself) to sip by the glass or purchase a bottle to be uncorked there. Crafted&Cured also carries selections of meat/fine cheeses that will have you drooling and wanting to explore what beer and/or wine to pair it with.

While my first trip here was short and sweet, the staff and great selection of beer and charcuterie boards will have me back later this month for the full scope. If you are in the area, make sure you stop by and #supportlocal. Until next time, Cheers! –C.Rich
